Calling someone out on a repost

I think I've suggested this before, but calling someone out on a repost should require a link to the original post, otherwise the poster should get a warning and then short term ban. Posting "REPOST" in a thread adds nothing to it other than being self righteous, especially when it comes to threads that are a repost of another thread with a very vague title or no keywords whatsoever. At least posting a link could help combine the two threads.

Disagree. "Repost" is sufficient, especially when Thread titles are difficult to memorize and Reposts often occur far beyond the time of the original.

Perhaps the OP should just grow thicker skin.

My opinion is just "repost" adds nothing to the thread without a link. It, in effect, is the same as saying "I like pie", another stupid post.

by just posting "repost" we hope that it will make you search for the original thread

like you should have done in the first place

also...postcount++

It's not the matter of growing a thicker skin, I really don't care if I'm wrong and/or someone wants to call me out on it. My problem is the idea that this sort of practice contributes nothing to the forum. As MedicBob stated, this is the same thing as a nef, something we have in the past sent people on vacation for in the middle of a serious thread. How is calling "repost" without any sort of backup any different?

Your repost contributes nothing (new) to the forum- get it?

Honestly, it is not that hard to search. Especially if it is something new. Repost simply says it was reposted. Linking is not necessary, as already stated.

If by that you mean people should search before posting regurgitated crap, then yes.

Olds, with all due respect, go to the original post and search for that post based on keywords that are within the post or any of the comments. How do you find that link if you don't know it's already there? As I said twice now, searching for Grover or Old Spice will not bring up the original link. How is a member supposed to know where that original thread is?

Posting "repost" does nothing for the thread or the OP without a link in cases like this.

olds needs to be made ultimate ruler of the planet.
Huh, I am not?

....

In this instance, maybe not. But that's more the exception than the rule.
