Calling someone "Hun"

You know "Hun", short for hunny or however the hell you spell it. It's one of those numerous pet names people call one another. Some girl called me hun the other day but she's the SAME AGE as me. Usually, you expect that from your grandmother or something.

I live in Oregon. I hear it so infrequently that I always give them that "WTF?" look involuntarily, especially if they don't have a southern accent.

'hun' can be used between friends and is frequently used between people in relationships

I actually wondered about that and was going to use honey, but hon doesn't sound like hun. Plus, I don't give a fvck.
