Calling on Canon G2 owners

yo. I purchased my G2 just recently. After some picture taking I downloaded pix onto my computer and noticed ONE empty (white colored) pixel in the same spot of every pic. So I assumed the worst and called dell and told them I had a defective camera and would like a replacement.

I received the replacement a few days ago... Again I downloaded the pics and noticed another white pixel in the same exact spot in every picture! SIGH .. is it possible something is in the lens? It looks clear to me......... Do all G2's do this????

I have had a G2 for quite a while. A guy at work decided on one, and my sister even bought one before her honeymoon this past summer... and she also bought one to use for her job. I know mine, the guy from work and my sisters haven't had any issues. All but one were bought through a camera pro shop in milwaukee (which are going out of business here left and right).

I had a G1 and it (like all digital cams) had a few stuck pixels. They only were noticeable when taking long exposures of the sky. My G1 was destroyed last spring by an encounter with my DPSS laser so I purchased a G2. This one has been great. I haven't taken any long exposures (yet) but I do plan on doing some more laser art for the holidays. So far, I'm very pleased with the camera.

Do you have an example? How big is the anomaly? Something is really strange if it's larger than a single pixel. If it's a single pixel then it's quite small and not really that bad. It would also be easy to touch up if you were doing some final (print) work.

Cheers!

my olympus3030 has a dead pixel also, except its purple:disgust:

but most likely they sent you the same camera back, not a replacement.

Sounds like you've got a dead pixel on the CCD. No, not all G2s have this.

You should download this Dead Pixel Test software. (Be sure to follow the directions.)

Thank you very much for that test. It was apparent that there is a dead pixel even before the test. Well should I call dell again? or should I call canon? 🙁 ugh..

How long have you had the camera? If it's been within a day or two, call DELL first and ask them. If it's been too much longer than that, though, they will most likely tell you to call Canon since you did buy a retail camera with warranty.
