Calling Mandrake 7.2 pros again...

I have everything up and running now, all except the networking. I tried to setup my info for my dial-up, and when I hit enter, it waits a few moments, then says "System not connected to internet" or something dumb like that.

I have a USRobotics Internal 56K voice modem. Everything seems to be detected fine. I can run business as usual in Windows, just LM 7.2 has a problem somewhere.

Since I do not hear dial-tones, or even the relay click, my guess is Mandrake is not even getting to the modem yet, so somewhere before modem initilization is the prob.

I am going to check newsgroups now for ideas. Anyone have a guess?

Checking LinuxNewbie.Org forums, and reading Sensei's article editorial, this seems to be a common problem.

"7. Modem will not dial out, despite being found and sort-of identified. ( LED's registered being found)."

Same prob. 🙁

has it been detected? is there a chance its a winmodem?

edit: its been a while since ive used modems, and i HATE troubleshooting them 😛, gotta love cable 😀

Well, no luck yet. It is an ISA PNP modem, so it is not a Winmodem. Linux detects it correctly, but it just will not work. Gonna go tinker around some more....
