Calling MAC Users: Can a mac read the TXT format?

Hi there,

my question for a Mac users: can the mac read the standard txt format the pc produces. What I mean is when i sent an email to a mac from my pc and attach a txt which is written in notepad can the mac user read it without third party software(only standard mac tools that are on the Imac / PowerPC??

Yep. A Mac can read plain text with the default software.

yeah... it can even read .doc files.

but if you're going to use cross platforms...
then i'd say stick with rtf. rich-text format.

.txt will be fine, not sure why you would want to go with rich text. On Mac OS X you can even use more to read them

i was talking about rtf 'cause it's probably the most universal text format with text embellishing codes built in... ie bold face, italics.

Works for me, if you need bold face and stuff

Plaintext loses any formatting, a pain if you're working with a large document. You get one long paragraph, no indents or line breaks etc.

But its the most cross platform format I have found. /me is a UNIX freak
