Calling IBM Thinkpad T40 Owners ... heat problems?

My T40 is proving to be quite a frustrating beast these days. The spec is as so:

Pentium M 1.6
Hitachi 60 gig 4200 RPM
512 mb Crucial + 256 mb IBM-branded
Radeon 9000 32 mb

I use this machine for work and playing Warcraft. I lug it around all the time and since day 1 it has been having sporadic blue screen errors and frequent blue screen errors during Warcraft. Symptoms like this usually suggest a heat issue or corrupted HD or bad memory. I swapped out the HD for a Toshiba 40 GAX 5400 RPM and reinstalled Windoze. Crashes became less frequent but they still happen in Warcraft. Moving on, I removed the 512 mb Crucial chip which I had in the DIMM slot under the keyboard near the motherboard (and probably generating a lot of heat) and moved the other 256 mb from the underside of the machine to under the keyboard. It's been around 45 minutes now and Warcraft still looks good and stable so it looks like I have narrowed down my problems to either bad RAM or overheating.

Has any other T40 owners experienced similar troubles? I'd be particuarly interested in hearing from the Radeon 9000/FireGL folks. The TP heatsink is slightly expanded on the TPs with 9000/FireGL to help cool both the CPU and the Radeon and I imagine the Thinkpad is really pushing it in terms of how much heat it can still normally function with. Would I be correct in assuming a 512 mb part is going to generate roughly 2x as much heat as a 256 mb part?

Something of a resolution. I like to share my and hopefully some Anandtech lurker will one day appreciate it. The Crucial DIMM was not working normally with the Thinkpad. Reports on the thinkpad newsgroup (ibm.ibmpc.thinkpad) suggest that Crucial DIMMs don't always play well with Thinkpads. I have not been able to find another laptop to test the DIMM in, so the possibilty of it being a lemon has not been ruled out. Anyway, hope that helps someone someday.
