Calling for interview already

I've been really looking for new jobs lately and have been sending my resume for jobs that I've never done before, like publishing and sales.

Anyway, on one of the local job sites, they have little blurbs about local companies. This one really stuck out to me. here is a description of what they do.

"a creative studio that produces content for marketing and advertising by specializing in live action production, motion design, animation and interactive media."

It sounded pretty interesting to me so I checked their job page. All they are showing available is a sales manager. I figured I liked what I read about the company so I decided to send them my resume(i think that was last night or Sunday night). I told them that I liked what i read about the company and that I would like to be considered for a position there. I also said that my training was IT oriented but I was willing to maybe do something else.

I come home from work today and I have a message from them saying they want me to call them for an interview. No idea what the position is though.

I'll call tomorrow and find out.

Now, i'm kinda getting nervous and feeling weird. I guess this is because it'll be a big change, even if its still IT work but with another company. I wouldn't know anyone or know what i'm getting into. I'm not a very social person so I don't make friends easily.
I'm "settled in" for the most part at my current job, even though it pisses me off.

Weird how I want out so bad and now that I may have the opportunity, I'm feeling this way. Its happened every time I've switched jobs though, but i can never get used to it.

Push your self to make that next step. You can't always be anti-social. Sales will definitely break that.

yeah i know. i always tell myself that i need to be more social but when it comes down to it, i always bail. i just can't make that step. i fvcking hate it.

You can do it, you can make the change. And don't be surprised about hearing from the company already. When a place is interested, they often don't hesitate to pull the trigger as they don't want to miss a good opportunity (you!).

Don't be more social. Go do something that is social.

You can always chat with me. I've been in your shoes.

I called today during lunch. They want to have a phone iinterview to see where i would fit with the company, since i said i'd be willing to do something other than IT

well, that was pretty worthless

the reason they called me was because they were rolling out new servers and setting up active directory, VPNs and stuff like that. Stuff I don't have much or any experience in. We use VPNs at my current job but my boss doesn't show me how he set them up or anything like that at all.

I have the Windows 2000 MCSA cert but since i don't use or haven't had a chance to use any of that knowledge, its all gone. I could probably read the books again but i'm a hands on person and I need to actually do what i'm learning, otherwise my brain is like a sive (sp?) and it doesn't stick.

I don't know. I think i'm fvcked unless I go back to school again or something changes at my current job where I actually get a chance to do something. It seems like they needed an experienced person for my current job, not somebody that is just starting out.

i just feel totally lost and helpless and worthless anymore. i don't know what to do.
