An undocumented teen immigrant who was in federal custody petitioned to get an abortion.
After receiving administration approval and taking the first of the two abortifacients the head if the Office of Refugee Settlement, an appointee of the current administration who had fought pervious court orders allowing undocumented teens access to medical care (abortions), actively weighed subjecting the teen to an unproven “abortion reversal” procedure. This procedure has not been shown to be effective nor safe for the woman.
While they ultimately did not force the experimental procedure on the girl, (only the medical exam), the mere fact they seriously considered it and went so far as to call the clinic about performing it is horrific.
This may come as a shock to some but simply the crossing the border even illegally, even as a pregnant minor, does not give the government the implicit right to experiment on you.

Vice also obtained transcripts of a deposition brought against the Trump administration by the American Civil Liberties Union. In it, Lloyd confirmed he discussed trying out the experimental procedure on the teen. All this came after the office had already forced her to delay taking the second pill for hours in order to establish the “health status” of her “unborn child,” according to a March 6, 2017 memo. Officials also subjected the teen to an examination at a local hospital, where medical professionals found a fetal heartbeat more than 24 hours after she took the first pill.
