Calling all wireless guru's!

Ok, so my parents want me to redo the wireless in their house. When they moved in they had wireless setup, but every room is cat5 pre wired. I told them it is a waste of money that they wernt using the wired LAN built into the house.
Now my dad is fed up with having to find a cable to check his email at night. Silly corporate exec's ALWAYS need to be on their email.

The setup:
All the rooms are wired and join in a common mechanical room on the lower level, so they had a CATV line installed in there to get the modems to work. There are a total of 7 outlets throughout the house, so the router will have to have 7+1(internet) ports on the router.
When they first moved in the wireless was this: Main router in the lower level and one acess point upstairs. The signals were horrific if you were upstairs, that is how i talked him into going back to wired.
They have a new home here in CO and there is a lot of steel in the house for the size that it is.

I was thinging of doing the Linksys http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833124010
The same one i use at my apt, so might be a bit easier for me to understand to setup. Mine has the speed booster thing built into it also.
Should we do 2 access points upstairs then? I am not to familiar with access points, what should i get that would work well?

Please give me some input.

Thanks.

Any decent switch will do, take your pick of routers.

As for the wireless you could run multiple APs if they support WDS - like buffalo tech.

If you're looking for excellant coverage - consider proxim or cisco APs

Ditto on the Cisco idea! If your Dad is a well payed business executive then maybe you can rig the whole house up with Cisco gear to study for your CCNA (or higher) with. 😎
