I just got a 1.1 Ghz system with an ASUS A7V and it seems that I can't even set the multiplyer at 12x so windows will boot up properly. The best I can do is 11.5x and 105 FSB.
Anyways I want to know how well you guys overclocked your 1.1 Ghz Thunderbird with just normal air cooling, and which heatsink/fan you were using.

Any helpful tips would be appreciated :D

A system I just built uses the 1.1GHz Athlon which is running at 1300MHz. Thats 12.5 x 104MHz. I can get it to boot and run windows at higher speeds, for example 12.0 x 112 or 12.5 x 108, but I like the round number ;), and it is less stable at those speeds. I've been told its the cache that can't take it.

This is using a modified Alpha PEP66. Via Hardware monitor reports a temperature between 46C and 49C depending on ambient. This is while the CPU is under full load cracking RC5. (BTW it does 4.5 MK/sec :p)

I don't really remember, but I think that mine would originally fail to boot with a 12x multiplier as well. Try boosting the voltage to the max for a while. After I ran it at the max for a few days, it is now stable at 1300MHz and the default voltage.

1300MHz is getting pretty close to the limit of the core.

I've done lots of 1000 @ 1200, but getting to that next level is about a 10 percenter.

Really extraordinary 1Ghz chips will do 1340-1350, but they get warm. :D

I personally would not buy a 1.1GHz, because about any 1GHz will go 1100-1150.

Hmm very interesting. Helped me a lot.

I've been debating a P3 800 @ ~1Ghz or a Athlon 1 Ghz at 1.1 or higher.
