First off please have mercy on a Newbie first poster!!!

I have a Intel X-38 DX38BT running Windows Vista Ultimate with QX6700.

I found that the board can only take 4 x 2048MB memory.

The FSB on the board can only go to 1333mhz.

I want to max the memory out what are the max speeds I can have on this board???

What can I have PC1800, PC1600, PC12800, etc???

Also I know this a stupid question but you can's overclock the FSB right?

All wisdom and knowledge given with pity will be much obliged!!!

The maximum supported memory is DDR3 1333 or PC3-10600/10660/10666 (10666 being the most common).
Yes, you can overclock the FSB.

So then I can't overclock the FSB past 1333 to 1600 then?

I overclocked my coarsair from 1066 to 1333 but I think the first was factory but it was tested at 1333.

The reason I am asking because there is some Super Talent DDR3 PC1600 8 gigs total(4x2048) going for $200.00 This is a good buy and I just wanted to know if it would work on a X38!!

Ram runs at 1/2 the rated CPU fsb, so a 1066 FSB needs 533 ram, 1333 FSB need 667 ram, etc.

So if I got a processor that could overclock to 800ram then the X38 coud handle DDR3PC1600 memory???

Your still getting all your numbers mixed up.

FSB is quad pumped. So if your processor is rated for 1333Mhz FSB. It's real FSB value is 333Mhz.

RAM (whether it's DDR, DDR2, DDR3) is double pumped. So, if your current RAM is rated for DDR3-1333, it's real value is 667Mhz.

In this example scenario you'd be running a 1:2 ratio.

Now sames you have a Q6700 which rated FSB is 1066 and assuming you want to OC it a little, say 3.6Ghz.
You would need to set FSB to 400 and if you wanted to have that 1:2 ratio, you would need that DDR3-1600. Which should run just fine in your board as long as it isn't a very picky board.
