Calling all mad scientists

What i want,

close to the cheapest possible system that will play Call of Duty 2/Bad Company 2 at 60fps at medium settings on a 21.5 LCD monitor at 1920x1080.


Other than CoD2, i will be using it for burning/watching movies, music and surfing the net. I'd like to be able to do that stuff reasonably well also.


What do you think would be the best/cheapest way to go about configuring such a system?

I didn't know Xbox could run at 1920x1080. Had to look it up and verify. But I don't think it can rip and/or burn movies, tho'.

If he is going low cost then the best bang for his buck is AMD. Does anyone know if BC2 is multithreaded? My friend has been playing the PC demo and doesn't think that the demo is, but maybe the full game will be.
