I'm caught in the middle of attending a bachelor party in Vegas one weekend and having another wedding to go to in San Diego the following weekend. Instead of coming back to the East Coast only to fly back out a couple days later, I am taking a mini-vaca for the days in between.

So what are some activities one can do in Vegas by themself?

thanks peeps

edit: changed it to the one question i need suggestions on

1) I thought there was only one marriot hotel near the strip? the Marriot Suites
2) Go to a show, go to a strip club, go gamble
3) if there was such a thing wouldnt everyone be doing it
Personally I like spending first couple days there at the sports book. You can bet on horse races, baseball, etc and each "game" usually takes a while to complete so its not like your spending a LOT of money unless you put down big money on the games. Its a little more complicated than the card/slots but i think it makes for a bit longer lasting experience.

if you pay all my expenses (flight, hotel, food) and front me gambling cash, ill be your friend for that week. it wont be that expensive, i mean roundtrip sd to vegas is $70 and mid-week lodging will be less than a $100/night. as far as food goes im cool with terribles $2 hot dogs/beer combo, and i usually go up about an average of $500 at the tables. so just pm me a link to print out my boarding pass when you get a moment, k thanks!

Some advice exists in this Thread

Otherwise, search (yes I know that is equivalent to a four letter word) OT for Vegas related threads that pop up every month or so. Dig into the OT archives also

There's no foolproof way to win money in Vegas but your best bets at *not losing your arse* would be to play:

- Craps with pass line bet and maximum allowed odds
- Blackjack with basic strategy
- Baccarat
- Video poker with full pay tables

If you're going this weekend, the Ike "Bazooka" Quartey/ Vernon "The Viper" Forrest fight is Saturday night. Quartey is a slight underdog, but I like him to win. Quartey is fresher, and looking good in training. Forrest is bigger and a bit younger, but more shop-worn and injury prone.

You should be able to get about +140 on Quartey, in other words you bet $100 to win $140 (plus your original $100 back).

Closest thing to a sure bet in Vegas. Bet Quartey.

Come on, here's one:
THE STEPS:
1) Dont bet any $$
2) Depost $$ you would bet into savings account
3) Play 5cent slots (found somewhere) to get free alcohol

OR

Enjoy the area by going to a bunch of cool sites, free shows (can be found), the dam, etc....

Have fun!

this is exactly why you shouldn't waste your points in LV. it's pretty cheap to stay on the strip. save your marriott warchest points for a nice relaxing vacation.

1) Stay ON the strip.
2) Walk the strip (every casino is like a small city)
3) Study up on women's basketball a little. Its the easiest sport to bet on and win.

Ah, but many things in Vegas are free, my friend, but you can't afford any of them. ;)

I have to disagree on this 1.

FOOLPROOF yes but extremely boring.

find the peeps that want you to listen to their timeshare speel(sp)
its the only foolproof way:)

check around and find the ones that are paying the most(most are in the 200-400 range)and its only for 1-2 hours so you can set up 2-6 in a day.

when the wife and i go we always set the first day aside for this and make 800-1600
for nothing other than sitting in a room.

yes its boring but hey its FREE money and who knows maybe you can turn that money into more money, we always do:)

yes you can do it alone.

theres several places on strip. most of them offer tours to the grand canyon and such....
people outside of them will ask you to sit in on their sales pitch for timeshares.

the one we use the most is between the MGM and bellagio on the same side of street as bellagio.
