I am in my last class for my degree and would like to get a broad response base for my survey. It's 14 questions about IT certifications verses non-certified job skills. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

IT Certification Survey

I looked to see if this type of post wasn't allowed but couldn't find anything related to it.

Thanks!

I only filled it out because you're an alien.

I like how you included soft skills because those are much more important.

cool poll, hope to be able to see the results

7 years in IT, no certs as of yet, to little time to focus on one thing... microsoft, cisco, checkpoint, vmware, ibm blades, ibm sans... it never ends :)

Some of your questions are wordy and confusing.

I answered them all. I have been working in IT-related fields for 12 years now. I have an A+ cert from about 4 years ago and I own my own IT consulting company. My relationship with the client is 1000% more important and valuable than some piece of paper.

If I run into a company that is interested in my services and all they want to do is harp on the fact that I don't have any certs, I just direct them elsewhere because they are going to wind up being a pain in my ass until they decide to switch to another provider.

Not really in IT, more Business IT/Mgt Science for two years, but the only cert I want to get is the PMP.

I'd say that can qualify. There are many IT ogranizations that are using more and more of that type of skill set.
