Calling all HIS Card Owners

I'm about to pull the trigger on an HD 6950 to flash up to a 6970. According to this url: http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=137136 using the tools provided there people have been having tons of success.

The cheapest 6950 I can find is an HIS for 299$, free shipping. I'm wondering about what tier the HIS brand fits into and what their warranty is like. From what I understand its a 2yr warranty which should be fine as I rarely keep a card more than 2yrs.

Can any and all HIS card owners give me their thoughts especially those of you who have gone through an RMA with them.

Thanks,
-Ex

I RMA'ed a card a few years ago, and they don't even handle their own RMAs. I had to go through their US distributor and the whole process took over two months. HIS RMA sucks. I will never buy another card from them.

From their site:

All HIS graphic cards carry one year warranty. For more warranty information, you can contact your local retailer or regional distributor.

They're all excited about you joining their "Kingdom of Gamer", but it looks like they don't want anything to do with you should you have any problems.

I think they changed recently cuz I'm pretty sure my card had a 2 year warranty.
I haven't had any problems with it though so I don't have any experience with their RMA process. If you're getting it from newegg though I think they take care of RMAs for the first year at least that was the case for some Geil RAM I got through them.

Sapphire is ok, I just bought a HD 6970 from them. I have a HD 4670 1GB & a x1950 512MB from Sapphire that still run after hard use. Sapphire's parent company is the same as Zotac if that helps.

Gigibyte, MSI, & Asus are all good as well. Their higher end models have better build quality than XFX but they usually don't have XFX's warranty.

Basically it's HIS, Biostar & especially Diamond that you have to stay away from on the AMD side.

Visiontek is also one of the ones that have lifetime warranty on AMD's side. Not sure why they get ignored since they are one of the few that don't require you to register to get the warranty just have to keep the receipt.

I've had a 4870 HIS for 2.5 years now. I picked HIS because it was the cheapest by like $20 (might have been more, don't recall) and I have had no problems what so ever. Glad I didn't pay the extra $20+ for an identical product.
