So last week my gf went to the hydro one (Utility Company) finance interview for a 4 months summer position. I was suprised at how informal the interview went as the hiring manager just asked a few questions like "what is you ideal job", "what type of companies do you like to work for", "how good are your written and oral communication skills" and "what office & e-mail software you know".
The hiring manager also mentioned to her when the position will start, where she will be working and she hope that my gf will sit close by.
My gf answered the interview questions and according to her, the manager was pleased. The interesting part is that the manager paid alot of attention towards her volunteer work doing tax return for low income people. The manager is an immigrant to the country and she kept on complementing her how important it is help people, as she received alot of help from volunteers when she first immigrated to Canada. The manager repeately said that its important to help people and she really liked my gf's volunteer efforts.
So even near the end of the interview, after the manager said when she'll be informing of the hiring decision, they proceeded to another 15~20 min chat about volunteer experience, her experience as a new immigrant to canada etc.. She emphasized again that she is impressed by my gf's volunteer experience and that she likes people who help other people.
I think the interview went quite well because i think that if the manager is not interested in the candidate, she wouldnt be chatting so much about her experience and telling her own stories..
So what do you guys think? Everything went well?
