I'm sorry I misread that. I'm not sure what you are doing here. You have an HDTV and an HTPC spitting out HD signals?

No, I have an oppurtunity to purchase an HDTV from a coworker w/o a built in decoder or vga/dvi inputs. I was wondering if one of trhe external decoders allowed additional inputs. (vga or dvi).

Is this some cheap HDTV? A smaller size? I don't think I'd buy a nice HDTV without HDMI or DVI since high def DVD players will require one of the two for copy protection.

There's the option of converting DVI/VGA to component and using a component switchbox (or even Y cables if you are looking for the cheapest solution). I'm not familiar with decoder boxes (never seen one myself outside of my cable box).

Just trying to help out. Sorry I don't have more info.

So how do you connect the external decoder to the tv?

Via 2 sets of colorstream inputs.

It's an older HDTV (2001 Toshiba 50H81).

I guess I could look into one of the vga to component converters, but at that point I think I would just be better off buying a new set with the inputs on the tv.......
