Calling all EEs!

So I'm starting to think about what tech areas I should go into (this is my second year) as I start to look at companies for internships and stuff. I haven't really thought each one through to see which ones I like the best but I was interested in signal and image processing as well as embedded systems.

So I was just wondering what some of the technical areas on ATOT? I'd like to know the reason why as well, although "I like it" probably is a good enough reason already.

signal processing and RF. I took alot of wireless and satellite communications classes and have a very cool job doing signal processing for radar systems. And I like it.

I'm a grad student in EE and I wish I could have focused in a specific area more, but my previous internships/coops and thesis led me to cover areas such as: analog filtering, DSP, communications, power electronics, optics, and some EM. The reason I had to cover so many different areas was because the task required me to do so. About the only area I'm not actually interested in is power.

my speciality is power. 3phase 230kv goodness.

why? because i hate waves and antennas and transistors although power electronics are interesting.

If you do this, best be sure to get good grades as it's a very comptitive area to get into afte you graduate.

Power systems is easier to get in with lack luster grades.

I ended up doing softeware with a good sofware backgrround. Have a BSEE with control systems/signal processing background.

I'm in my last year. All the courses I'm taking relate to one of the following fields:

Electromagnetics
Communication/Signal Processing
Systems Control
Photonics

My thesis project is on a MEMS based Dynamic Gain Equalizer

Why these?
Simply because I found them interesting.

Senior undergrad. I'll have to find a specific area, but embedded systems interest me -- I just don't know if I can focus on that specifically.

<-- EET (tech instead of engineer)
Medical, calibration/test fixtures, and doing butt loads of paperwork.

The moral of the story:
Don't get into the medical industry unless you have some sort of paperwork fetish.

I'm finishing my MSEE this year, and am focused in digital integrated circuit design. It is interesting, and I am currently trying to land a job with AMD, Intel, nvidia, or one of the other big chip makers.

Although the further I get into this, the more doubts I have about whether I should've even done it to begin with.

<--I did data networks. Very useless, hahaha, but very interesting.

<--- currently working as an entry lvl software drone 😛

Before I dropped that racket, went the construction engineering approach. Setup blue prints on new buildings. I don't think this was true EE though.
