OK, I successfully did the "pencil" trick and unlocked my Duron. Weee go me!! I then began to up my "multiplier" and successfully got to 8.5 and 850mgz but unstable so I upped my voltage to 1.8 and fixed that. Stable @850 1.8v...yay! However, I WANT 1 GIG! I set my multiplier to 9.0 to try and get 900mgz and it gave me the blue screen, I tried raising my FSB to 101/33 and it wouldnt even post. It seems that 100/33 is as high as I can go there. So......any suggestions that I haventy thought of?? I can't belive I paid a whole $50 for this 600 chip and I cant get it any higher than 850... its suppose to go to at least 1 gig....grrrrrr any help would be appreciated...

I think you reached the max speed you chip can do. Try cooling it beter w artic silver and a alpha. maybe you can get 950 1 gig is rare. good luck. Also redo the pencil job some people have increased their oc by redoing the pencil job. Or better use a defroger kit to unlock it.

Try 900MHz @ 1.85v. Also, if heat is an issue, you may want to consider getting a better HSF. You may also want to try using something other than a pencil. The pencil trick works, but it has questionable durability and effectiveness. I got an extra 50MHz out of my 600 by using the silver compound in a window defogger repair kit.

blue screens generally mean that you have to up the voltage. try 1.825v and then 1.850v and see if it becomes stable.

the chance of it reaching 1ghz is pretty good, but not guaranteed. you paid A WHOLE $50 for it? damn, somebody must've seen you coming...

I have had 4 duron cpus and none would do 1 gig. I think it is rare. All of mine did 850mhz and the one that I have now does 900mhz. Look at my signature. I have the good hsf too.

Don't blue screens usually indicate a problem with chip overheating ? Sure I read somewhere that you should look at better cooling if you are getting blue screen. Yes, No anybody ?

I'd like to overclock my duron 700, and have discovered the conductorpen trick.
My problem is my motherboard.
It's an Epox Kt 133 (isn't it?, the one with onboard Soundblaster) and i dont know how to inc the multiplier (MP).
Do I inc the MP on the CPU or do I do it in BIOS.
The voltage should not be a problem.

I'd really appr. some advice, 'cause I can't afford to fry my CPU :)

you're screwed with the epox motherboard.

should have spent an extra $20 and got a a7v :)

you may be able to FSB overclock the board to 110 (220) +33 (if you have some good ram like mushkin!)

Thanks for all of the advice and tips guys. I actually moved it to 1.85v and still couldnt get anymore than 850. I tried going higher than 100/33 on the FSB and couldnt go past 101/33 without posting probs, I guess I got cheapo ram. Thinking of just takin this 600 back and getting an 850 T-Bird now. And BTW...the comment about payng a WHOLE $50 was a joke.
