Greetings All,

I'm in the Air Force studying criminology. For my class, I am required to interview a law enforcement professional. If anyone is interested in helping me out, I would greatly appreciate it. Send an email if you can help. Thanks!

EDIT: I'm now offering $20 paypal to the first officer who puts a good faith effort in to answer my questions.

Because the local PD speaks Italian and I don't. I'm overseas, and I want to interview a stateside police officer.

So I guess I might as well just post the questions.

1. Job Responsibilities: What are the major job responsibilities of your position?

2. A Day in the Life Of...: Describe ?a day in the life? and ?a week in the life?

4. What personality traits do you possess that are helpful/detrimental in your day to day?

5. What do you do daily? Weekly? Monthly? Yearly?

6. What percentage of your time on the job is spent in the various functions (reporting, patrolling, etc.)?

6. What are the high points and low points of this job? What are the high points and

low points of your career?

7. What kind of people do well in your particular career area? Why did you select this area?

8. What does a career-long path look like in this field? Are there different options for advancement?

Personal Policing Strategy

1. What type of policing strategy do you prefer? What type of policing strategy is the norm in your unit?

2. Have you witnessed any corruption or questionable police practices? If so, what were they? How did they affect the unit?

3. How much personal discretion are you allowed to use when determining when to make an arrest, or write a ticket?

4. Do you work with the same partner, or different partners, or no partner?

5. If you had to pick one word to describe the relationship between police and public, what would it be? How would you like the relationship to be?

6. If you could change an aspect of the American legal system, what would it be?

7. How common is it for you to testify in court?

8. Has your view of police changed since you became one? If so, how?

9. What do you think is the best way to prevent police corruption?

10. What is your educational background?

11. Did your first supervisor say ?forget what you learned at the academy??, or do you apply that initial training in real life situations?

Yep - but they would probably still qualify as a "law enforcement proffesional" as the OP requested. Anyway, just throwing out ideas.

I had a comparative criminal justice course where we studied CJ systems of other countries. One of our assignments was to give a presentation on another country's police.

I set up my answering machine to record a call, called the Sydney, Australia police department and spoke with one of their public relations guys for about 1/2 an hour. I played the tape for the presentation and got an 'A'. :)

Sure, the call cost me $40 but hell, it was worth it :)

I know a few cops, unfortunately they're all either working or sleeping right now so I can't help :(.

That's a most ridiculous argument. No emotion on the internet? Hah!

Don't bother me with your stupid claims about me hiding behind excuses or some BS like that.
