calling all cooks: what is cream sauce?

in this recipe link it asks for cream sauce...what do they mean by that and can i buy it at my local ralph's? (and in which section?) thanks!
 
You should be able to pick up cream sauce for less than $2.00 at any grocery store 🙂
 
it might be referring to light whipping cream, but i kinda doubt it.


check the dairy section for cream sauce.


if that dont work, go to your chinese food store, and ask for cream of someyoungguy 😛
 
try your standard white sauce.. 1 T butter melted, 1 T flour stirred in and keep cooking, 1 c milk stirred in gradually and cooked til simmer/thickens.. x 3 for this recipe, I'd guess... cream in place of some of the milk would make it richer..

Yep, butter (not margarine! it don't cook right), heavy cream, maybe even a cheese component in the right sort of dish... cream sauce.

unless i'm mistaken, cream sauce is a variety of bechamel sauce.

bechamel sauce (white sauce) is 1 tb butter, 1 tb flour (or however much you need, so long as proportions are equal) stirred together until they come together and smell a little nutty. Then you add, tablespoon by tablespoon, cream, and you have a cream sauce. Make sure the cream you add is warm.

If you add cheese, it's cheese sauce.

it cant be that hard... it's just it. 😛
 
?? Ricotta makes for an excellent addition to a cream sauce. Heavier cheeses go into alfredo type sauces. Flour is just for people without a heavy whipping cream... it's not what i use while cooking.
