This is my first job where I am not active. I am in a chair for 8+ hours a day and its catching up to me. I've put on about 20 pounds in the past 6 months. I'm just not used to not being active.

I would love to exercise after work, but I'm usually too mentally drained. It seems like I am more tired after a day of sitting on my butt than I was when I was doing physical labor.

Tips? Hints? Personal experience?

Forcing yourself to work out will give you energy. Once you get into a rhythm, you'll find it getting easier.

You're on ATOT right now, thus you have no pressing matters to attend to. Go do something else. ;)

If you work harder you can skip lunch, you won't miss it after a while. Gaining almost 1lbs. per week is bad McLard.

Actually, in the same way kegels work to flex/relax/flex/relax discrete areas, try flexing and relaxing your abs constantly.

If you're sitting at the computer for an extended period of time, drop down and do 20 pushups every hour on the hour. Supplement with something simple like 30lb burn-outs in the morning (curl until you can't curl anymore). Further augment by eating like a champ and furiously masterbate like a typical keyboard warrior to keep your cardio up.

eat less, park far away from the building, and take the stairs if applicable?

I always go to the bathroom on the first floor of my building just as an excuse to take the stairs up and down.

Skipping meals is a BAD idea, to be honest. Eating smaller meals more regularly will keep your metabolism up. Skipping meals lowers your metabolism. If you skip enough meals or go long enough between meals, your body starts hoarding energy as fat because it doesn't know when it'll get to eat again.

Also, look at boobs a lot. It gets the blood flowing and is great for cardio.

The stereotypical "eat less" comment is a fallacy. Eating RIGHT is more important than volume. Eat the right amounts of the right stuff, don't just lower your intake. 1 chip per day is not "more healthy" than 2 chips per day.

I'm a plethora of information. I know how and what, I'm just not motivated to do so.

I do, however, curl 30's every morning to loosen up and all that crap.

if he's gaining weight consistently, it seems safe to assume his calories in have become greater than his calories out?

Yes, but your body treats different foods differently. It's easier to break down and use certain foods than it is other foods. Weight loss and fitness isn't as simple as black and white.

Also, you can try getting up an hour earlier and working out for that time.

I used to wake up at 7, now I wake up at 6 and do 50 minutes cardio (either treadmill or stationary) while I listen to music or watch videos (TV episodes). Feel a lot more awake and ready for the day after doing that than if I had woke up an hour later and not worked out at all.

You probably already know what to do, just need motivation to actually do it. If someone at work is willing to go with you, go to a gym a few times per week.

That, and what everyone else has already said here.

that's not always the case.

I can easily have pressing matters to attend to, but find myself on ATOT.
