Is it safe to do heavy exercise while on Prednisone (wiki link)?

I have had a couple allergic reactions over the past two weeks. One to generic Dayquil and one to shrimp, with the former being near fatal.

A few weeks before I began a serious running/jogging regime to see where I can cut my weight down to if I decide to take up martial arts/wrestling. In between both reactions i exercised some.

While on this drug I sweat a ton and my heart feels like it's racing. Is it safe to keep running?

You're allergic to tylenol and/or DXM and/or pseudoephedrine?

How'd you make it this far before realizing that? never had robotussin or basically any cough&cold med before in your life?

I'm guessing its the fish oil used in the gelcap portion of it. Not the actual drug itself. If you want to hear the long story on how I almost died, i'll tell it. Otherwise it's just a story to tell.

I've taken dayquil by the bottle and pseudoephedrine in tablet/caplet form before. I take Tylenol every few days.

As far as the prednisone, I don't know. If it's a short term thing I'd probably lay off until the rx is done, but if you've got a lifetime script... well... ask your doctor

Prednisone mimics a natural hormone the body produces to help with stress. Unless there is something else going on then it should be fine.

The Linux has got to go and the Vid card replaced, but the rest is gonna be sweet. I never buy Intel, but under the circumstances I'd use it. Next Upgrade will go back to AMD though.

I'll have to put my bedroom TV into the closet moving my current Living Room TV into there. Looks like it will be worth it though. I hope your furniture is not too big, my place is kinda small.

My only concern is if I really get my heart rate up and this hormonal steroid just goes off on me. I have been waking up with night sweats. When that happens it feels like my heart is going to burst out of my chest. My doctor and the ER doctor said there is no alternative. How screwed up is that.

This whole allergy thing has me all wound up. I'm a 21 y/o, 6'3 210lb guy who has never had any health problems. Now I have to avoid all geltab medicines, fish, crab, pretty much seafood in general. Not to mention when you have one allergy, many are lying dormant just waiting to show up. Carrying an epipen just so I know I wont die is pretty fucked up.

I think so. I remember eating the same shrimp that got me last week about a year ago. I had name brand dayquil in capsule form about 6 months ago.

I had a similar allergic reaction to Aleve or Advil, in the geltab form over a year ago. My hands and feet swelled up. These last two times it's been hands, feet, lips, throat, vision problems and my heartrate drops to the point I pass out.

It's not cool at all. Thank god I have health insurance.

Why do you continue buying geltabs ?

Just buy the bitter generic pills with no coating, or the liquid form which you have said is good to go.



Also instead of buying dayquil or other combination drugs, why not just buy the constituent components and "design" your own dayquil (out of known good single-active-component pills)?

At the time it was relatively unknown what the cause was. It is now known.

I hope your doc wrote you a prescription for an Epipen in case you have some type of emergency down the road.

Also, make sure you get a new one every once in a while (hopefully not too long after the old one expires,) don't assume that it'll last forever ....

Hayabusa Rider ... I didn't know you were a pharmacist ..... If you work for one of the big retail chains it's possible we may have the same employer ... (not a pharmacist here, though I did spend 5 years as a tech, been a cubicle dweller for the last 8 years, and my father's been a pharmacist for 30+ years)

Eating year-old shrimp is going to make you sick no matter what you do.
