Calling all AL2051W owners... Help me

I recently purchased an al2051w from newegg. Great looking monitor. But I'm having an issue with stuttering. I tried pixperan and every second or less it stutters. Easily noticable on the flag test or any test. It does this in games too, but its not as noticable. I have a 7800gt and I'm 100% sure the monitor is the issue, since I've tried 3 other monitor's: my old proview that is 4 years old, doesn't stutter even though its hard to tell because it ghosts so bad lol. an lg226wt doesn't stutter, w2207 doesn't stutter. I've tried vga and dvi with the same result. I tried vga from laptop too and the same stuttering. I've messed with powerstrip and changed timing and at 57hz it surprisingly hardly stutters - maybe once every 3 seconds instead of once every half second.

So can you all run pixperan or even just dxdiag and see if it stutters. I'll upload a video if you want me too. I'm guessing I should RMA it, but I want to make sure no one else has this issue. Its not tearing either, its stuttering. I assume it a refresh rate issue, but I've tried everything I can think of in the last 4 hours with no results besides 57 hz an unsupported frequency with ok results.

Thanks for your help

I'll post a video, but I think I'm gonna RMA it since I've never heard anyone else complain of this problem with this monitor. Its not too noticable in games, but its annoying. I really like this monitor too, i had a lot of trouble reading text on the w2207, but this monitor is so clear and perfect and colors are better, even though I think contrast was a little better on the w2207. I think I just needed a 20 inch for the sharper dot pitch, but I have no issue with glare from the screen and I like the better viewing angles.

If you have anything overclocked drop it to default and try it again. You can RMA it but to me it don't sound like the LCD though I may be wrong.

Indeed it's a sync problem, potentially one where the monitor doesn't correct it. You might have to live with tweaking some of the refresh rate things in PowerStrip. Sometimes even reinstalling drivers helps. You may have cache from your old monitor with *slightly* incorrect modelines. How to wipe these out for sure is usually to enable the device manager's hidden mode (you have to set an ENV variable, Google it) and delete all the monitors you see. Then reinstall video drivers.

I've tried everything you mentioned with no good results. Wouldn't this mean the sync issue is the monitors fault, if every other monitor i've ever plugged in to my computer has never done this. I recorded a video but it's rather large. Interestingly on the video you can hear a strange buzzing noise that kind of corresponds with when the picture stutters, you can't hear it in person. My other monitors don't really make too many noises when i record them on camera. I also tried the monitor running off my laptop with the same stuttering issue, and i've tried everything i can think of in powerstrip and have tried various geforce drivers including the newest ones.

Don't you think its possible I just got a bad monitor, shouldn't I try to RMA it, since I'm out of ideas, and yes I even deleted all the hidden monitors from device manager and reinstalled drivers and still have the exact same problem. The only thing that makes any difference is running 1680x1050 at 57hz using powerstrip and then the picture only stutters every 2-3 seconds or so. I've tried numerous resoultions at 60-85 hz and all experienced stuttering. It also doesn't want to run 1680-1050 over dvi at 60hz but 59. I think that might be part of the problem too, but I ran it at 60hz over vga and still had the same issue.

I'm RMA'ing it. Do you know the date your monitor was manufactured? I think mine is November 2006 but I'm at work now. Can you also check the refresh frequency for 1680x1050. 59 or 60hz? what does the monitor's on screen display say it is?

Thanks. I have November also, well I RMA'd it so i guess had is more appropiate. But mine always said 59Hz on dvi. Interesting. I just hope my new monitor works correctly, otherwise i guess i'll upgrade the video card eventually. Its not horrible but it is definitely noticable. I'll let you know how it turns out in a week or two.
