I have a 94 2 door GS-R
I want to know how much does it usually cost to Rebuild a transmission?
replace clutch?
replace timing belts?

Cause I have piad $1400 including labor to have a transmission rebuild, and clutch replaced, I was told that all my replacement parts are orginal aucra parts......I'm just wondering if this price sounds rite?
Cause I felt like i've been cheated...although the owner told me that they do a very careful job on the cars and would do it correctly...
he also charges $60 per hour....

And I need to pay another $400~500 for Timing Belt replacement...

or if this price is right: ) really appreciated..
Let me know if there is a HONEST service shops in San Diego. Thanks all~~~

I'm not really familiar with costs associated with acuras, but for a tranny rebuild, a clutch replacement, AND a timing belt replacement, that doesn't sound too bad at all.

As I Honda owner that price does not seem to far off to me.
Clutch and timing belt will run $800 easy.
I have never had to have a manual trans. rebuilt so I don't know about that.

BTW how did the trans. get ruined?

I have no idea, firstable it was kinda hard to shift in gears...
so i brought it in, and the person told me that my clutch need to be replaced...and my transmission needs to be checked...
so a week later after i get my car back....and drove for 2 days!!
I can't shift into 4th gear...or it would jump out when i shift in....
and i was unable to shift out/in to reverse....
so i brought my car in again(2weeks ago) and he said that the transmission need to be serviced again...and my master clutch cylinder which caused problem shifting in/out from revers...need to be replacedand since the service is still under warrenty so he will fix it.....but I'd still need to pay for the master clutch cylinder....

he also said that my timing belt need to be replaced...which would cost another $400~500

So the car in in there for another 2weeks now....haven't get it back yet...and my friend started telling me that I got ripped off...
so.......i need ppl who knows about this kinda stuff to help me here.....I know even if i find out I've been ripped off i can't do anything...but atleast i wouldn't go back to him again, althought I really hope that these r the normal price for rebuild tran, replace clutch, replace timing belt...which totals to be over $2k~~~~

why didnt you take it to an acura dealership in the first place? I try to steer clear of mechanics that are not highly recommended to me by friends and family.

For that much money you could've bought a better motor with tranny and spent a little more to install it and you'd have a better car. :D

Oh well, but that doesn't sound that far off on the price.

Define "a little more".

Labor to install a motor is 600-1500 easy, maybe more depending on the car.
