I just saw a major accident.

I was heading 101north (in san fernando valley area) on the leftmost lane.

I saw this van coming from the opposite lane, then hit the central divider, then did a jump to his right...

I tried calling 911 from my cellphone, but all I got was a busy signal.. man I cant imagine how anyone can rely using cellphones for emergencies..

I just called 911 from my phone line to report the accident..

EDIT: its not busy signal, but a machine saying that we are busy bla bla bla....

EDIT: Calling 911 is unreliable

Flava Flav was right. 911 IS a joke.

I called in 911 my town because someone was being murdered in my neighbors' backyard. I spelled the name of the street to the operator. About a half hour later the PD called to verify the address they got from 911 -- not even freaking close.

Or maybe the fack 600 jackass's feel the need to report an accident using thier cell phones overloads the call center. Then 15 minutes later when you get home and call in theres a free line in cause now all 600 jackass's have quit trying to call in about the accident... Gee, theres a thought huh.......

Not in NC. Each county here has central communication center that basically takes messages and makes calls over radio or pager or what have you.

In CA , yes. Calling 911 from cell phone, operator will ask for detail about location.
