Caller ID with Call Waiting

Do you need a special caller ID unit to use caller ID when someone comes in on call waiting? I have a normal cheap GE caller ID unit, but when someone comes in on call waiting, the number does not show up on the unit, It does nothing. Verizon tells me I have call waiting caller ID, so what do I need to do to use it?

some crappy units dont show call waiting, we have one in our home. The best option is to get the phone with the caller ID on the actual phone, those have all the functions, plus its easy to check real quick when your talking. Other than that, look for a unit that has both labelled on the box, we have one of those on our main house phone.

I think you have to hit a button for it to show up when someone else calls. Not sure though, but I think I read it in the manual...you know, that book thing that most geeks avoid like the plague?

your caller ID box must support Call Waiting ID and Name & Number display. The unit should explicitly say this. If it's old, it probably doesn't have the call waiting ID support
