Good news and bad news. I need a job (temp job ran out) but I'd prefer it be law enforcement related. This position is not.

Despite being certified for hire with a local PD it's not a guarantee I'll be hired so if I actually get this job offer I'll take it. The position the interview is for is within the industry I worked in previously (banking) and was getting away from in order to pursue law enforcement. My most recent work history shows that change.

I'm worried they might ask why I left my old position and why I am coming back to said industry. Clearly I can't just tell them "I need the money while I wait to get the job I really want. Don't be surprised if I ditch you in a few months."

Any advice?

So you do have work history in the law enforcement field? If so, you can just say that you found that it wasn't for you and that you enjoyed banking more I suppose.

I volunteered briefly (2 months with a local PD) and then the temp job I had was with the same city (non-LE related). I hate to lie but it seems that story would work best.

I'm in a similar situation...I'm moving out of information technology and trying to pursue a music career full time and work another job part-time. I am in the process of finding said part-time job.

Just tell them you want to experience a different aspect of the banking industry.
