True. But at least there's some variation between all Samsung's Galaxy S and Hummingbird based products, and even with HTC's Snapdragon devices.

In the case of the iPhone 4, the only thing different is the color of the back plate. I'm assuming it'll ship with the latest version of iOS too. There's nothing wrong with offering other colors, its just pathetic that it took Apple a year to sell a white iPhone. And not long before they replace it with the latest and greatest. This just screams of a way to dump inventory. And honestly, there should be a price cut to the iPhone 4 models the same day as the iP5 launch.

That could be the case, but I think the apple scenario of having 'production issues' with the white iphone is bit more realistic. People like to portray Steve Jobs as a control freak Nazi all the time. The idea that he would delay a phone because it wasnt 'perfect' seems more likely than a conspiracy theory about an inventory dump.

Not seeing the dishonesty. edit: unless you mean the "amazing" part

It's white on the front, too. :colbert:

Many phones come in different colours. Almost every product you can buy comes in varying colours.

What's wrong with that?

Also, that white phone is ugly. All gadgets should be black. 8)

Agreed. Black iPhone > white iPhone. I swear the white one is only hyped because it wasn't released. People didn't make that big of a deal back in the 3GS days.

They were going to offer it together like how there are two iPads but couldn't. Instead of forgetting about it. They figured out how to produce it correctly and released for anyone that wants it to buy it. What is there to be confused about? It's just a new color for the same price as the black one. The unnecessary hate in this thread is strong....

Hate apple for not giving people choice and when they add another option, it must be a conspiracy.

I think a good chunk of people don't know that the white iphone was supposed to be released along with the black one, but ran into light bleed problems because of the paint (or something like that). Based on what I'm seeing here there's a lot of people with an opinion that don't know what they're talking about. But such is life on the internet.

Anyway, there was supposed to be a color choice with the iphone 4. It took a while to iron out the paint kinks but here we are. Now we have the color choice we were supposed to have from the beginning. They didn't release a white iphone out of the blue with no added features just to see who would buy it, this was announced a LONG ass time ago and anybody who was interested in one has known about it as well.

In short: OP doesn't know what he's talking about. Typical internet user who knows none of the facts, but has all of the opinions.

Some people really don't get the concept of personal preference...

people can have all the choice they want. just seems a bit hollow to release a new phone, which is the same as the 2010 release bar the colour. If it's choice that is the issue, then why not release it in 2010, along with the black model?

If the iPhone 5 is released soon, millions also will obviously buy that. I guess this happens in most industries, such is life.

I have no problem at all with choice. Who would?

If this release is because it got delayed, then so be it. If it's because Jobs simply wanted to milk off his firm's consumer base, then good one Steve, way to milk off the fanboy crowd! :sneaky:

OK, I'm not sure if you're just playing dumb or not, so let's break it down:

- No one is forced to buy a White iPhone
- Some people want an iPhone 4 in white, regardless of when the guts were originally launched.
- The iPhone 4 in white was delayed due to light bleed and other production issues like glue staining, etc.
- Plenty of other manufacturers release phones in alternating colours during their lifecycle to boost sales.

I really don't see why this is a big deal. Is it just because it's Apple there must be a conspiracy? :hmm:

For the love of god, PLEASE read what I posted above you and you'll stop feeling so out of the loop.

They were planning on releasing it along with the black one from the start, but ran into problems. Instead of holding back the iphone 4 entirely just because of one color, they waited to release the white one until it was fixed. Now it is, so they released it. It's that simple. Better nate than lever, right?

Several people have pointed this out, but you're just ignoring them. I refuse to believe anybody is this stupid so I have to assume you're just trolling at this point... so I think I have to stop posting just to make sure I'm not feeding the troll.

i think it has more to do with the "if it's Apple, it's gotta be great!" mentality.

if any other manufacturer did it, they'd be roasted alive for recycling last year's model.

I don't see anything wrong with Apple releasing this now. It's a bit weird that it took them this long but its not like Android phones where there's a new and better model every couple of months.

I do think that the white iPhone is fugly though.

It's fine spending a bit more on something you like the look of better. Buying a whole new copy of pretty much the same phone you own for a color swap is pretty stupid in my opinion.

These are Apple consumers, remember. The same rules of logic and good sense don't apply to them.

Does the white iPhone have any different functionality than the Verizon, AT&T models?

If not, then what is the point, apart from a new and different colour? :\ Jobs obviously knows that it will sell, it's Apple, right? But it seems to me dishonest to release a device of minimal improved functionality, which as it's Apple will sell highly.

Call this weird again, but I don't get the point of aesthetics in a computer. Computers exist to process information, not to look pretty. IMO, it's like similar to choosing a car solely on how it looks.

overall, id say that the bolded part is the difference between an apple user and a pc user.

apple had everything white at first didnt they? wasnt the black case a new thing for the iphone4? i remember the original iphones were aluminum but the ipods and crap were white. it was a big deal at one point. i also dont recall them saying the white were any different specs, just a white case instead of black.

i chose my dodge truck based on looks, as in the 1500 class they are all pretty similar in basic performance. of course the dodge paradise blue is much better than the chevy blue.

As opposed to other companies who release "limited" edition colors and models, which aren't any different than the regular one. But in those instances since they're "limited" they generally cost more. Where Apple charges no more, and since it's not "limited" the price won't shoot up for no reason.

yup, two of my kids have limited PSPs. one is the silver daxter and the other is the white darth vader one. 30 bucks more at the time, but they came with extra crap that kind of made up for it. i liked the god of war one myself, but never ponied up for it.

so hateful you sound jealous. Apple's main computer market is middle class and up, generally average computer know-how. they aim for those who like chic products that are reliable, easy to use in an attractively packaged product.

i use a macbook, a desktop PC and an Android phone, i like all devices for different reasons. Yes there are apple fan boys but there are PC fan boys as well, both are just as annoying as the other. for instance, you are just as annoying about your apple consumer comments as Zeno is about all his Mactabulous crap (i think its Zeno, apologies if i am wrong).

Both party's are annoying the hell out of anyone who actually wants to read about an informed opinion between two products. If you don't like apple, fine, but degrading a fan base does about as much good as sticking your hand in a moving fan, it just makes you sound like an idiot.

who cares that Mac is popular. if they release an iphone 4 white now and can get away with selling it, good for them, it increases their market share and their bottom line. That is good business. If Samsung could get away with it too, they would. So bravo to apple for making a very lucrative business model. I won't be buying one, even if I did want an Iphone, I would wait until the iphone 5 came out later this year, but I don't so I don't care.

It isn't being called the next iPhone, just the current one in white. There is no reason at all to complain about this, they are offering a new option.

You should be aiming your frustrations at the people who fall for things like this, not the company that is selling it. It's like blaming a virus maker after you click through shady ads & sites.
