Call recorder for iphone without beeps?

omega3

Senior member
I'm looking for a good call recorder app for iphone that could do following:

- record both outgoing and incoming calls automatically
- no beeps, tones or notification on the call
- preferably an app that works in the background with the existing phone app
- free if possible

Any recommendations?

This certainly doesn't seem nefarious at all.

Android has apps like Calls Recall.. has nothing to do with crime.. i just wanna record my phone calls when asking for info and i afterwards can't remember.. a beep or something just freaks out people

You do realize that beep is there for legal reasons, right? In many, many places the world over it is illegal to record a telephone conversation without notifying the other party on the line. You might find some skeevy app on android willing to do it, but apple is super strict about what apps make it into their app store. An app that's illegal to use most places in the world isn't going to make the cut.

First of all i live in Belgium where this is NOT illegal. Again, a beep freaks out people. I just need to record my calls so i can refere to them afterwards for information. Stop being so paranoid.

I can understand iphone doesn't ship with such an app, but isn't there any such app in the store? Call Recall (android) btw is used by lots of people so not some "skeevy" app.

Can we do without blanket stereotyping insulting an entire nation full of people? Thanks.

It doesn't matter if it's legal in Belgium. Apple is a US company and apps in their store play by US rules. You can't even get a wifi network sniffer on the app store, and those are used for legitimate network troubleshooting as well. Not liking the answer to the question doesn't make it any less the answer to your question. The app does not exist, and it will not exist for the reasons specified.

Exactly my point.. i don't wanna argue.. the app store is so big there must be an app that can do this hopefully.

The size matters not. Apple verified each app in the AppStore. In the event an app doing what you ask does make it through the initial process, it would be promptly removed.

Also, claiming you need to record conversations for legitimate purposes, but hearing a beep would freak out who you were talking to is pretty much the definition of sketchy. If, for some reason, you had a legitimate need to record phone conversations, alerting the other party involved is trivial and likely to be met with resistance. Hence, why you want some secret recording device...

make the call through a mac with yosemite, then use some desktop app.

OP, in California, where Apple is based, it is illegal to record a phone call without the expressed permission of all participants in the call. Based on the fact that Apple rarely (ever?) approves apps that allows someone to overtly break California law (or the laws of a majority of states), I doubt you will find such an app in the App Store.

There may be one available in the world of Jailbreaking, however. That is where I would recommend you look.

From what i've read apple doesn't really scan all apps.. it's more if a certain app would hurt their business they would stop it.. a recording app doesn't hurt their business.

So nobody knows such an app or perhaps one from cydia (jailbreak)

They actively don't allow porn apps. They are more than capable to block apps that encourage illegal acts.

If you're jailbroken, you can get iOS Call Recorder on Cydia. Make sure to check your state/country laws.

Finally a good suggestion.. thanks for that 🙂

One thing though.. since you have to pay a bit, is it secure to pay on Cydia or how does that work exactly.. i have no experience with payed apps on Cydia but obviously don't want my paypal login or credit card info stolen.. so how safe is that and what should i do to keep my data secure when paying? Or is that just the downside of jailbreaking and using Cydia?

If anybody knows any other free apps like that, let us know here ofcourse

Use the speaker phone, then carry a pocket voice recorder and turn it on when you need it. not as easy as what your asking for but it will work.

You can use Paypal or Amazon Pay (which is what I use.) My cards are stored on Amazon, I just login and pick the card and done deal.

Thanks for the suggestion.. has anybody actually tested iOS Call Recorder as I can't find any reviews and with other call recording apps many people complain that it doesn't work as advertised?

Actually the official app store has a bunch of call recorder apps like TapeACallPro but they all seem to work with a 3-way call which obviously is annoying and don't know if it beeps at the beginning of a recording.. so it's not like Apple doesn't allow apps like that.. seems more that all these apps wanna make money for each call instead of a fixed buying fee.

I wish there was an app like ios call recorder in the app store so you don't have to jailbreak your phone.

I know this conversation is older, but I stumbled upon it while curious about this myself - about the presence of such an app and its legality.

I noticed a number of commenters suggesting that such recording is universally illegal. That's not true. Only 12 U.S. States require consent by both parties when recording a conversation. And there are no federal laws regarding this issue.

This resource, designed for reporters, explains it:

I'm the OP. Thanks for the reply. Something else alot of people here seem to overlook is that not everybody is from the US. I'm from Belgium and here there are no laws against this.

To come back to the original topic, could anybody please try IOS Call Recorder (see link below) to see if it works as claimed? I don't have an iphone yet so i can't try it out myself. Therefore my question.

In case you have ethical hesitations trying this, just mention in the conversation you have with the other side that you're recording this for a test and you're fine.
