Call of Duty: Vietnam Coming November 2010

Hold your surprise.

A source for Computer and Videogames has confirmed that the seventh game in the Call of Duty series of games will be coming this November to the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 and will be set in Vietnam War during the late 1960s.

Unlike World War II and modern settings, the Vietnam War setting has not been a particular successful setting for games whether it be because of the political and cultural distaste for the war or because the games weren't particularly well made to begin with. The Call of Duty series has not been one to flinch away from controversy though whether it be the violence in World at War or the infamous "No Russian" level from Modern Warfare 2. So maybe drawing inspiration from the movies Platoon and Apocalypse Now will be fitting for this game in the Call of Duty series.

Treyarch, who also developed Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War, says it is on track for a November release and Activision surely feels confident after Modern Warfare 2's domination of the Holiday 2009 sales charts and World at War still among the most played games on Xbox Live. World at War provided Treyarch with experience in developing jungle environments for gamers to play in so it should be interesting to see how they can improve on it for Call of Duty: Vietnam.

Call of Duty fans, hold on to your seats! In 2010, Activision plans to release many new, exciting and innovative games in your beloved Call of Duty franchise, including (but certainly not limited to):

Call of Duty: Vietnam
Call of Duty: Korea
Call of Duty: Iraq
Call of Duty: Gulf War
Call of Duty: Afghanistan
Call of Duty: Blackhawk Down!
Call of Duty: Iran Hostage Crisis!
Call of Duty VS Guitar Hero!

And many more exciting and innovative Call of Duty products, brought to you exclusively by Activision!

Faith in Treyarch's ability to make a decent game = nil

Good of them to keep up the tradition of flooding the market with too many CoD games.

They're going to merge with EA and make Call of Honor...or Medal of Duty...or something of the sort.

I am very excited for a vietnam COD.... however I am not putting my expectations to high because it IS treyarch. I'm still pleased... now I want some screenies!!!!

vietnam? the battlefield franchise went to shit after vietnam. not that i play CoD at all but i hope they know what they are doing.

Battlefield vietnam is one of my favorite games of all time.. I loved the huey wars, and droppin napalm all over.

I thought Battlefield Vietnam was the best game of the series...I loved that game.

I'm anxious about this COD game...love the idea of a Vietnam setting if done as well as Battlefield Vietnam...but am afraid it will suck without the vehicles of Battlefield Vietnam...that's what made it so special.

I am interested in seeing how Treyarch does. I have yet to play one of their iterations of the series after all the negative reviews...but the Vietnam setting could be the hook I need.

If it's Treyarch then I won't have to worry about MW/MW2 servers becoming depopulated once it's released. I'll stick to MW2 thanks.

my only request is to have only 1 noob tube grenade per spawn and make the 2nd grenade a perk. Make these kids learn to develop a little skill please!

I imagine the "noob tube" will be replaced with the M79 grenade launcher, or the "Thumper" as it was referred to by soldiers back in the day and in MW2. In MW2 it is a secondary weapon, but maybe in this new CoD game they'll eliminate grenade launcher attachments for all weapons and force you to use up your secondary weapon slot if you want to use it. Or maybe they'll make it a primary weapon, since soldiers in Vietnam were never issued both a rifle and an M79, just one or the other.

I'm sure there were rifle-mounted grenades in the Vietnam War (after all, rifle grenades were in World at War), but I'm not sure if they'll put them in the game.

Great another shooter-on-a-rail. I got CoD4 for free with my videocard, played it through in a day and removed it. The only thing about it that I really liked was the ragtime-warfare cheat. I thought that was pretty clever.

Unless I hear reviews raving about how "open" or "non-linear" the game is, I will ignore CoD titles.

Oh even better! yes, get it removed as an attachment! or remove it totally.

but doubt that will happen, they want the game to be as noob friendly as possible, where anyone can come and sit for a little and be decent with it. They need an equalizer for the lesser skilled players to take a higher skilled player down. Kids these days *shakes head*

nice i can't still launch MW2 multi on pc hope i can play it before the release from this crappy company

Weird, I thought Treyarch was going to make a zombie game and put the CoD stuff on hold.

I was hoping they'd do a Cold War: CoD, but I guess I'll settle for Nam

Treyarch again? I'll pass.

I'm the opposite. I thought W@W was a very good game and the 4-player co-op was fantastic. I'm not currently interested into putting any time into competitive MP these days, so I'm more interested in single player campaigns and co-op. The MW games are fun in SP, no doubt, but the lack of co-op is highly disappointing to me. So I say, "Bring it on, Treyarch"... IW can't get it done in the co-op department.

X2!!!!
WAW has some of the best COOP around. You cant even do campaign coop with mw2.
