Call of Duty on WinXP-64

So I was at a lan and installed my CoD program on my new Win64 setup and it doesn't seem to work properly. It'll run fine for a few minutes then just gobble up CPU time (around 96% of the processor according to task manager) and just stall out the game. (4-5fps).
my system:

WinXP PRO - 64
A64-3000
1 gig ram
GF6600gt


Any ideas on how to get this to go properly?

It's a long shot, but have you installed the latest patch?

Of CoD? No, I just installed off my CD's and gave it a try. I'll have to try patching. Good idea.

Yeah, I think the latest COD patch is v1.51 or so.
