Call of Duty - no key code

My buddy will sell me Call of Duty really cheap but does not have the key codes. Does this mean I cannot install it at all or does it mean I can't play online. So I could play single player only? They aren't pirated copies these are legit original CDs

I believe for COD you can play the single player part. Or wait I think thats Far Cry but Im not sure. Tell him to let you try it and then buy it if it works.

He lives too far away. Actually it is $5 shipped via ground so I just sent $5. I figure even if it doesn't work I might track down a code for single player or I can stare at the box and use the CD for a nice coaster :shrug

Pretty sure you can't do anything with it without the cd key.

Can't imagine how he has legit cd with no key.

Yep, the program will prompt you for the CD key during installation. Without a legit key, you won't be able to play either SP or MP.

Couldn't you just use a cd-key generator for single player? I mean you have the legit merchandize.

Ya, I won't be downloading any cracks or illegal generators. I will check out to see if the CD's are in fact original and perhaps do as waitman suggested and call the company. It can't hurt. Thanks for the input from everyone so far. I'll update with what happens if anyone is interested.

Guess it's possible, but the CD key is printed onto the liner notes inside the jewel case, behind disk #2.
I'd have to see a blank space there myself to believe it.

I got a copy of COD with my GeForce FX5900, and the cd-key was on a sticker. The sticker actually fell off my cd case, but I found it later.

Yea, now that I look at it again it is on a sticker stuck on the inside liner.
It's stuck on so good it looked like part of the liner.
