Call of Duty looks crummy with Cat 3.9s...

I was half way through COD with the 3.8s installed. I get the 3.9s this morning and unless I'm seeing things the game doesn't look as nice.

I uninstalled the display driver, then the control panel, ran Regcleaner, rebooted, installed the new display driver, installed the control panel, and then reboot.

Anyone aware of any issues with this game?

Doesn't sound to me like he had any trouble installing them...

I myself don't have the game so I can't really help out sorry.

Yeah true, but I have never had trouble installing any of the drivers either, yet the game played badly for me. I used cab cleaner and driver cleaner, then installed the 3.9s and the game looked and performed MUCH better.

Ah, I see.

I'm using catalyst 3.7 and have made it to the mission where you have to defend the Bridge. Did have some weird occurances but could not determine what the cause was. No crashes through the car chase mission. It was awesome. I just experience the open gl 16 bug when I die it gets fuzzy (256 colors)

Found this at Inquirer.net

READER ADDS "Just to let you know ? another way round this crash is simply to disable Fastwrite in the (Notso)SmartGART tab within the ATi control panel driver options. I had exactly the same problem and this cures this and other crashing bugs within this game. Incidentally, I don?t need to do this for ANY game other than Call Of Duty, and my driver version ? 3.9."

Thought this might help someone.

With all the 'issues' people seem to be having with CoD, its likely a problem with the game engine itself. Haven't there been any patches for CoD?

No patches yet. Infinity Ward has decided to blame the crashes on ATI's driver's and leave it at that.

A lot of developers simply blame the hardware. Its the sign of a subpar developer IMO.

I was using Cat 3.2 or something like that (when i first got my 9700 Pro) and the stupid game wouldn't even run, told me to upgrade my video driver.
so I got the cat 3.9 and it works great... no probs with COD.

Are the driver settings the same as they were?

Unless something really goofy is going on, drivers are usually the main cause for all issues with a game.
