Did a patch just come up on xbox live?
it says downloading game settings when i go to xbox-live on cod4

anyone else?

Patches download when you load up the game, not when you start multiplayer. Maybe they modified playlists?

hmmm iunno maybe someone can test it?
it feels like my browser speed is slower while the cod4 is 'downloading'
i need a confirmation

It's downloading game settings from the server, not an update. Does it from time to time.

That, or the servers are having issues. Back when XBL took a dive that was one of the common problems that were seen.

On my PS3....everytime I go to "Play Online" it will show the "Downloading game settings..." and after about 10-20 seconds it finishes and I'm ready to join a game.

I don't know if that's how it is on 360 (sounds like it's the same), but if it is, it's definitely not a patch, just a server getting info from your system or vice versa.

That's how it is on the 360 as well except it doesn't take that long. Sometimes it's very quick and if you blink you'll miss the "Downloading game settings..." message.

That's how it is on the 360 as well except it doesn't take that long. Sometimes it's very quick and if you blink you'll miss the "Downloading game settings..." message.

Yeah, sometimes it's quick too on my PS3, and the thing is, right when you hit "play online", the next screen (online lobby screen) momentarily freezes with the Downloading game settings... window, and sometimes it will freeze before it can load that downloading game settings window. So yeah, not always do I see the DGS... window either.
