call of duty 4 stuck progress

anyone else get this often with this game?

a few times already I have come across sections in the game where the auto save does not work or the script messes up. i'm currently stuck in "No Fighting in the War Room" where I have to go down a narrow corridor to blast open that heavy door, but there is no save game point and when I kill the enemies and advance, the script messes up and Captain Price refuses to close the door. so what do I do? I run back out of the room and go hunt for more enemies, and still, nothing happens. the time runs out and I die. I replay that checkpoint again, same result. what's going on? am i the only one who is experiencing this?

I had a script get interrupted at one point in the game. Just reload a previous save. You might have to replay 5-10 minutes, but it might work.

doesn't work. I restarted the whole mission, but now I get even more save game problems.

Bring up the console and see if there's an error, maybe?
You wouldn't by any chance be using a "backup", would you?

nevermind, it was because the mission had a count-down timer. the game doesn't autosave when my progress is slow.
