Call of Duty 4 COD4 Server Browser High Pings

Call of Duty 4 version 1.7 server browser reporting low number of servers and HIGH pings but when you join a server the ping is low. I have seen this being reported on many forum postings but I've yet to see a solution that is reported to work.

Using wireless route Linksys WRT54GL running Tomato firmware.
Verizon FIOS connection.
My machine can run the game maxed out easy so no issues there.
NONE of my other games issue such a low amount of servers and pings that come up 1000 ms+ but when you join a server it shows you with the usual ping you would expect.

I'm trying to like the game more but the lack of servers that work for me is annoying. I'm in Texas, USA.

It downloads and pings 15000 servers but i don't get more than 100 results and when i use the filters i only have a couple to choose from.

Any help would be appreciated.
 
It's the wireless. Use hardwired. Wireless is slow.

Basically it's sending out a ton of packets at once and causing a good amount of delay on the wireless connection.
 
I've never had a problem with all the other games i play.
I will give that a shot and see when i get home tonight.

 
Gaming over wireless is fail. I've just put my PS3 onto a wired connection after bad lag when I was hosting private matches. Now it's as smooth as silk.
