While I totally get an unwillingness to buy this game, I'm not sure it's fair to dog them for releasing another CoD iteration when it's in the CoD franchise. If they made significant changes, it wouldn't really be CoD. I'd just like to see them improve the hit detection and maps, because maps seem to be the thing I hate most in CoD and Halo of late.

That strategy worked out super swell for Guitar Hero.

Improving the quality of the franchise keeps it alive. Stagnant things rot and are tossed. Ghosts was also not growth for the franchise.

I am not sure it applies to COD, elsewhere I would agree.

It looks like they are doing a timed exclusive again, xboxes will be the first platforms for a month, according to IGN.

Truly improving COD takes more than hiring Kevin Spacey and replacing Riley with his puppies. It may turn out to be just more of the same.

It matters in that people should know what they're talking about before contributing. Regardless of the opinion towards any CoD dev-house, any ire or praise should at least be directed at the right one.

tinmann was wrong in every single way of thinking about who was making this game.

I know Sledgehammer's track record. They were involved with Call of Duty MW3 but what else? And only after a legal dispute between Infinity Ward co-founders Jason West and Vince Zampella. They were fired causing several dozen Infinity Ward employees to follow West and Zampella out the door as a result of the ongoing dispute, thus causing Activision to enlist the services of Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software to assist development of the title. Are we to expect more of the same from them? We all know what a Hackaplooza MW3 has become.

Maybe I was wrong to single out just IW for Ghost when I should have included all the Modern Warfare titles since Call of Duty 4. Better?

I know Sledgehammer's one title was a total joke, and it DOES factor in a little. However, they were not the lead team on that game by a long shot, so they might have just been following strict orders in the things they worked with on MW3. I can't totally blame them for it, since they were probably just spare bodies to help get the game out the door. The quality of that game makes me hesitant on their first solo work, but at the same time, I'm not going to use MW3 to say that Sledgehammer is 100% incapable of making a good product.

I will take a wait and see stance. Wait and see if they bring anything new, fix the anti cheat and bring back dedicated servers. It's always better knowing your ping going into a match and not just thrown to the wolves a with triple digit ping. Also pre-purchase is not an option.
