A friend of mine is having problems with CoD 2, it hard locks his PC, stock or OC'd. Says he has all the newest drivers, etc for his PC which is a A64 3000+ 1GB ram, x800xl AGP epox NF3 mobo etc.

just wondering if any of you guys have had problems/know a solution.
 
Things that I did to freeze lock ups in games:

Change my anti-virus software (antivir screwed my games up, so I'm using Kaspersky now)
Get rid of any windows skins (windows blinds, vista skin pack, etc)
Get rid of tuneXP if you have it
Make sure you've used driver cleaner in safe mode before after uninstalling old drivers and before installing new drivers

That seemed to fix my problem, so I'd check that with him.
 
I use TuneXP.....hehe, luckily no problems so far. I found it on ign in the bf2 tweak guide and used it ever since, is there a reason to remove it? is it bad software?
 
My CoD2 frequently freezes in-game, and the whatever sound is playing then will repeat a few times, go silent, the system will freeze, and then unfreeze in about 10s. Weird. Other than that, it runs fine, except for the low framerates.
