comments like yours is why i dont trust personal opinions. at the settings you listed a 7800gtx will only average 24 fps but you saw no slowdowns, right. http://firingsquad.com/hardware/call_of_duty_2_performance_ati_nvidia/page7.aspOriginally posted by: Cheesetogo

You'll never overclock close to X1800XT speeds with an X1800XL card. The core will most likely reach 575-590, and memory is only rated at 1.6ns (tops at 1400, probably way earlier) vs. 1.26 for X1800XT.
With current prices, 7800GT @ $300 > X1800XL.

If you want, I'll run fraps next time I'm at his house. I'm not sure, but I think that his drivers are optimized for performance or not image quality or somthing. I came up with this because I have the same system as him, but he was able to run Doom 3 with 8aa at 16x12 fine at 30 -60fps where I got 20 - 50 fps. His drivers are 77.50. Mine were 77.72.

single geforce cards have a maximum of 4xAA in opengl and can only run 8xS in direct3d,..so if its a single card,.and 8xAA was set it the doom3 settings,...it was actually 0xAA,...if it was set in the nvidia driver control panel as 8xS forced,..then the driver reverts to 4xAA for opengl applications,..so if he set it in doom3 setting and you set it in driver panel,..he was running 0xAA, you were running 4xAA
full 8xAAand 16xAA can only be done with SLi on geforce cards
