Hey folks. I'm in the process of loading games into my newly built PC and have hit a snag. COD2 isn't completely Vista compatible, but does work, (I ran it for a couple of years in the old build and Vista 32) but with Vista 64, when I launch the game, it just crashes to the desktop. I can get into the game and options menu, but it crashes about every 10 seconds or so.
Any tips/suggestions?
This is one of my favorite games, and I'd hate to lose it to the upgrade.

Thanks.

Vista 64 isn't an OS i would choose for gaming, if anything at all. You're better off with XP or grabbing a copy of W7 for $100.

Battlefield2 also does this...grrr

I'm not sure if it's Vista 64 or the video card that's causing it.

It works fine for me in Windows 7 (64 bit). Enabling in-game AA has a known issue, so you should use the control panel version instead.

Not sure what the problem is. I have vista 64 bit sp2 with a pair of 5970's using cat 10.5 and play COD 2 with no problems.

You could try using compatability mode...see if that helps.

Turns out...all I needed was Service Pack 2...all fixed.

FWIW, I had tried all the regular "compatability mode" fixes...nothing had worked.

With this being a new install of Vista, apparently the system just hadn't gotten to SP2 yet in the updating. Once that happened, my games (so far) are playing fine.

Thanks.
