Maybe it's because I'm a dad-to-be (wife is pregnant, yay!), maybe it's because I'm not 'with it' anymore, or maybe it's because we've been brainwashed by the Man... but a recent thread containing some pictures of college age girls dressed in as little as they could got me thinking...

I went to a lot of parties in my college years, the most any girl really did was a kegstand where her shirt fell up over her head and exposed her jumblies. Never had I attended a party in which the whole point was to wear something that was basically nothing at all. I'm not saying i didnt enjoy the photos, I am saying "What has changed?"

Today, I see 15 year old girls with giant racks (why wern't there giant racks like that when I was 15?!) wearing lowcut, midriff shirts and low-rise pants. I see 16 year old girls wearing silky and lacy negligees as tops. I also see chubby chicks wearing revealing attire that they cant pull off. Underage children are attracting sexual attention to themselves and their parents dont see it, or they're just letting it happen because their kids want to be 'cool'.

Has it really changed that much in 10 years? Is MTV truly setting the standard as how kids dress? Are parents really that blind about what their kids wear? And seriously, why in the world, have the racks of the world grown so significantly?

Racks are because of push up bras and stuffing if I had to guess and yes I blame MTV, just look at Hilary Duff, she's been dressing like an 20 something since the age of 15 and MTV shows it to all their little 15 y/o viewers like it's nothing.

That being one of them.

However, having said that, if that had been the case, i probably wouldn't be the same person I am today.

I doubt I would of learned DOS as extensively (and enjoyed it...which turned into a passion for Unix)

if you have a daughter, you will have to spend more time shopping to find non-slut clothes. it isn't easy

most parents are too busy or whatever and take the easy way out and let them get slut clothes or i guess many are ok with them being pedo bait

Parents being too busy, and not spending enough time with their kids. Letting them get away with things, we never did. Morals and values declining, for some.

Not all parents are like this though. What matters most, how you treat, act, and show your kids right from wrong, show them what it's all about, good morals and values. Takes time.

Girls are maturing faster and larger partly due to the drugs and hormones in our food. Milk, for example, has as much as 46 man made chemicals in it depending on the pasture and how the cow was raised.

The problem is that these are children (young teens) of OUR generation. If I had a kid, he/she would be around 15-16 by now. It's just the times we live in. Youngish ppl in their early to mid 30's with teenage children. Just think how it'll be when they have their own children...

We can all speculate, it's not just one answer. Yeah *some* girls are maturing faster, and some aren't. All boils down to gene's, and your family, many factors play in.

Then again, things aren't too much different, maybe we are more aware because of the intraweb. Girls in tub tops, short shorts from the 70's. Every generation has had it's share.

Kids growing up too fast, everything they are exposed to nowadays. Still have to shield them, and it's not easy sometimes. Today so much crap is in your face. Nothing left to the imagination anymore. I get tired of it.

It's gotta be the food. I've been to a few sports banquets in the past year and I realized how developed young girls are becoming. I mean they have racks and asses that would make a 21 year old jealous. : ?

That's because it's true. I've got a nine year old girl, and we've just had to start buying shirts in the "junior" section if we want them to actually be long enough to cover her stomach.

dude, it has changed a lot. if you're around 30 like i am, nothing is the same anymore. the separation between us and the teenyboppers of today is wider than the Grand Canyon.

or not. it just seems that way quite a bit of the time! i can't relate to teens these days. they just don't seem very nice. *shrug*
