Jimmy Hoffa? Wtf? That dude has been long gone. They still never found his body. The mafia probably gave him a pair of concrete boots and became fish food.

So just so we are clear, there is nothing wrong at all with what he said? Perfectly acceptable, especially after the call for civility? At the very least, you find nothing wrong with publicly calling a politcal opponent a son of a bitch?
No, you are right. I just agreed with you in my last post. Why, just last week we had our final golf tournament. My team captain said the same thing before the start: 'Let's take these sons of bitches out!' I instinctively knew exactly what he meant. I went to my car, opened the trunk, got my shotgun, and blew the other team's heads off.

Oh I remember the call for civility. I also remember Obama and company lashing out at Bush's deficits. My how the tables turn.

Now they say the country cannot function without at least more than $2 trillion a year in deficit. They actually think it's a matter of life or death to jump off the cliff with our currency. They may be correct, but in the wrong direction. They are forcing us off a cliff to our doom. Now they say this in their attempt to ensure it.

They want extreme action to match their extreme rhetoric.

How many times do you need to have it explained that deficits during economic up times and after massive crashes are not the same issues. Too many.

Liberals are the most uncivilized people on the planet. Big suprise........
Like the millions of conservatives that hope for a government breakdown so they can put their gold stockpile and guns to the test?

Ah, so that response is justified. Good to know.

Also, thanks for the veiled Godwin.

Well, I noticed you didn't even attempt to condemn Jimmy Jr's comment. But since you asked, I find the quote you cited reprehensible. However, I will alos point out that you completely missed my intent, that is, that people just have to shut up and suck up the insults and threats of the left. People like Hoffa and Waters can spew out whatever vitriol they want without fear of reprisal. The answer? Neither should be acceptable in a civil society. Unions have perpetrated violence in the past to get what they want. People who know their history would be well advised to take what Hoffa said with some measure of seriousness.

If we can keep wanking off about Democratic incivility we can keep anybody from raising the taxes we need to balance the budget and fund a jobs stimulus plan.

Are you serious man? You honestly think there is nothing out of line with that statement?

Surely you jest.

I'm with you Nick. Especially for someone in a high-profile leadership position like that, that's an outrageous comment. It sets a very poor example ... for proper English grammar. It clearly should have been sons-of-bitches, NOT son-of-a-bitches. Wow.

But as far as an implied threat is concerned, lulz. Get real. Given that he mentioned voting just a sentence or two earlier, it is obvious even to knuckle-dragging union "thugs" that he meant take them out at the ballot box. But by all means rage on.

:D

faux news faux outrage... what else would I expect?

Nothing less. Funny, my inbox never gets these kinds of bullshit fake outrage emails forwarded to me. I must rely on the enlightened here for these kinds of slow news day stories. Must be a right wing thing...

Whether people like it or not, perception is reality; get over it, dems. Anyone in a leadership role should be abundantly aware of how his/her words can be interpreted. Jimmy Jr's remarks, in that light, are inexcusable. If a member of the tea party ever said what he said, every lib on this board would be in a shrieking, spitting, head-spinning rage. Hypocrisy ftw.

Tell me about it. I've been stuck at Rascal Nation (my elderly folks house) and all they do is watch Faux Noise and I can't believe the pure horseshit they broadcast, especially over Hoffa's comments

Tea Party should call for all members to meet Hoffa's "declaration of war" by killing all union members and welfare recipients.

"Tea Party groups roundly condemned Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa after he called on union supporters unhappy with congressional Republicans to "take these son-of-a-bitches out."

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/09/06/tea-party-groups-condemn-hoffa-sob-remark/

Oh, and "Asked about Hoffa's comments Tuesday, Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz declined to condemn them."

lol.

Call for civility, remember???

I assume both Fox News and you were equally angry when Tea Party candidate Sharron Angle said this:

You know, our Founding Fathers, they put that Second Amendment in there for a good reason and that was for the people to protect themselves against a tyrannical government. And in fact Thomas Jefferson said it's good for a country to have a revolution every 20 years.

I hope that's not where we're going, but, you know, if this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those Second Amendment remedies and saying my goodness what can we do to turn this country around? I'll tell you the first thing we need to do is take Harry Reid out.

Indeed. I do know Nick's posting history well, and you're right, he is being a hypocrite. When I see you expressing similar outrage at countless comparable --and often much worse -- comments from right wing leaders, I will agree you're not being equally hypocritical. Did you condemn Palin's cross-hairs map, for example?

Hoffa's word were ill-considered, and are easy to twist out of context. On that basis he should have made his point differently. It is quite clear from context, however, there was no intention to suggest violence. For Nick to rage otherwise is empty partisan theater on his part. I sincerely doubt there is a single person here who didn't realize this.

Maybe. Then again, Angle doesn't have an army of surly union workers at her command nor is she the president of the united states.

He should have just put pictures of Tea Party legislators on the web with cross hairs superimposed over them, because we all know that Republicans have no issue with *those* kind of tactics...right?

Not the same issue?

They are when government meddling in the economy has occurred on such a grand scale as to damage the recovery. It takes money to meddle. That spending is the precise problem we face. The same issue they raise their rhetoric in support of.

They have to fight to stop Republicans from cutting off their free meal, from enacting deficit reduction, from balancing the budget. They have to fight to maintain bankrupt policy.

The entire 2012 campaign will be waged on this.

lol, I hate Sarah Palin almost as much as you do. It's funny you think I'm a partisan, I have made my scorn for the Republican Party well known here, especially recently. I think the hypocrisy is great with stuff like this, we all know if this was a conservative saying this about liberals you guys would have an issue with it. Since its the other way around its "faux outrage".

It's quite amusing for those of us who are not beholdened to one political party and can actually see it.
