Call Centers in India...

In my experience it's been hit / miss with call centers.

A couple of them have been really polite, knowledgeable reps with perfect English.

However, others, including outsourced telemarketing (HAY CITIBANK!) are a nightmare.

Citibank has been going test for India call centers. Our call center manager of collections (over about 500 of us) had the balls to stand up and tell everyone how good the little Indians are... about how they will work 8 hours a day and never get up to use the rest room, work for cheap, etc. Needless to say, he didn't last long as the call center manager. We have received so many complaints about Indian CSRs....

I have nothing against Indians, but as long as there are areas of high unemployment in U.S.... U.S. companies should place call centers in those areas.

One area I will complain about, besides accent/language barrier: most Indian CSR's I talk to like to put up a fight on the phone... as I've said in previous posts, I've received free computers, apology letters, gift certificates, free meals, etc... when I talk to CSRs because companies don't service me like I should. I've asked Indian CSRs to give me their manager and many times they are like "My manager will not be able to change any decision in this matter" yada yada... right. First off, they made the mistake of refusing to give me what I WANT, I'm the customer. I'm sure their manager set them straight.

I've spoken to only one CSR in an Indian Call Center and yet I've faced the same misbehaviour from plenty of CSRs - how could that be? Waitammint!!! Perhaps arrogance and obstinacy are not the trademark of just Indian CSRs! Moreover, every time I refuse to make a donation to some Trooper's association or the other , I get this rude "What?! You don't have 10 bucks to spare?" Maybe those people are "little Indians" too?
