The Pioneer Cabin Tree, a giant sequoia in Calaveras Big Trees State Park that was tunneled through in the 1880s, has fallen due to severe winter weather. It was believed to be hundreds of years old.

Eh, after hundreds of years everybody's wood needs a little help staying up. Just give him one of those blue pills and he'll be alright

Well now they'll get to cut it up and study it. That's pretty cool at least.

I remember this tree very fondly. I've got a picture of me in it somewhere. Sad pandas.

Sequoia is useless as lumber. That's why we still have sequoia trees.

Who told you that? Sequoias are redwoods - a very popular high-end lumber.

The reason we still have them is because the national parks were established to protect them because logging towns for redwoods were becoming a large threat.
