Half of the water coming out of our east side sewage treatment plant in Fayetteville Arkansas goes into a creek which goes into a river and winds up in Beaver Lake which is our reservoir for northwest Arkansas.

According to EPA:

But according to water.org:

176 gallons per day, per person? Wow.

So individuals being reduced to an amount that's still 10 times the average for an entire family of *actual* poor people of this world is a major First World Problem.

Well I'd use a fuckton less water too if I had to walk 12 miles to get it and carry it back in a friggin bucket on my head. Personally, I don't want to live in a society where showers are a luxury but thats just me.

With that said, 50 gallons a day isn't much water at all. Luckily water is one thing that I don't see my area running out of very soon and if we do we have a whole host of other problems to go along with it.

BS...you don`t need 10 minutes in the shower with it running.....
Hell......wet your body...lather up and rinse........

Fuck that shit, unless I'm on a damn navy vessel I'm taking my nice hot shower. You enjoy those cold "navy" showers if you so desire.

The myriad of various cities in the Los Angeles area are probably not going to enact this. There have been some calls for "voluntary reductions" in come LA area cities.

None of the better-off cities will enact this though. They depend on their property values for their tax revenue. They depend on their "nice appearance" big time... many have laws mandating a certain niceness level for front yards or be faced with fines.

Down there neighbors have sued neighbors over front yard decorating decisions and won. I don't see this happening in LA for a very long time. Things will have to be extremely desperate before this happens.

50 gallons is too low IMO. I'd rather it be alon lines of 75gallon limit per day, with larger fines above it. Most of the water waste is not coming from typical households,.. it's coming from large homes with large yards and it's coming from golf courses and other businesses that use large amounts of water.

The 50gallon limit would hit poor/middle class in order to serve the well to do and privileged who could use well above that amount and happily pay a $500 fine.

Don't hit the poor/middle class for water waste that is not equally distributed amongst the populace. $500 fine for the well to do, even if once per month, they don't give a shit, $500 fine for the rest of us, particularly if monthly, is a big deal.

But yes, none of this is happening.

sadly this is nothing but a poor tax. $500???

Geez, 50 gallons per day (1500 gallons per month) and that's rationing??

I was shocked when I saw on my bill that I consumed 1200 gallons in a month living on my own. I felt that was way too much consumption and am thinking about how to conserve.

50 gallons is plenty for cooking, cleaning, flushing, and watering the lawn. Unless you live alone and have a HUGE lawn.

Dont take long ass showers just cuz you're bored. You shouldn't have been wasting that much water before the drought anyway. Pee two or three times before you flush (get a bleach tablet and stick it in your tank if you're worried about odor).
Steam your veggies instead of boiling them. Less water and its healthier anyways.

The massive waste of water in Cali is from their lifestyle, it would only take minor changes here and there to drastically reduce consumption. In fact people could probably use 60 or 70 gallons a day, if EVERYONE stopped wasting it by the hundreds.

I've no desire whatsoever to stop with my 25+ minute showers. Don't Like it, Megabyte me.
