I guess this is something new for this year. I'm supposed to report stuff bought from out of state (internet and phone) and pay a tax on it.

This is wonderful, I can't even keep track of all the stuff I bought this year.

Most states with a sales tax had that I thought? VT has this little chart to help you calculate it, for most people who make under $50k a year it's like $10 or so. If you put 0 and you make a lot of money they tend to be suspicious, I always toss $10 their way ;)

It is a stupid tax, and by that I mean if you are stupid enough to report it you will get taxed. Pretty simple.

I don't really care for the weather honestly. I'm getting out of CA for grad school (at least that's the plan).

Why would you want to downgrade by leaving California.

I don't really think it matters too much if I'll be stuck in the office 8-5 everyday for the rest of my life. There are always fun to be had even though the weather might not be optimal.

How do you figure?

Not to mention earthquakes and forest fires look at some of these:

San Bernardino ranked 1st nationwide for the worst fine particle, or ?soot,? pollution among large metro areas

California was ranked last among the states, with the highest percentage of schools with unsatisfactory IEQ conditions

California cities dominate the lists of most polluted cities in the nation for all measures. Ten of the 25 worst cities for short-term levels of particle pollution are from California; as are 7 of the worst 25 for year-round particle levels and 9 of the worst 25 for ozone.

Sure you have beaches but with the amount of pollution you are swimming in I think it's save to say I would rather go to Hawaii. :p

Getting back to main topic, yea they just throw that on the tax form to see if anyone even bothers reading it. :D
