I'm not interested in politics at all but i heard on the radio this morning that Arnold Schwarzenegger (sp?) won for governor again.

Is he a good governor or are the the other people running really that terrible?

he's married to a kennedy. he's a lecherous pothead. he's not much of a republican in the way it is normally thought of.

unless a governor royally f*cks up he's probably going to be reelected. most people hardly know what they really do anyways, they are more like a mascot in most peoples eyes than anything else. and well, having the terminator the governor is kinda kewl for many. doesn't hurt he's got a business degree and a follower of thomas friedman. he did an into in his documentary series:p http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_to_Choose

the other guy just didn't give a good enough reason why we shouldn't have a governator . and so he got slaughtered. what are the current numbers? last i heard angelides was close to the record for democratic governors race lowest vote count ever:p

The other contender was not really popular with the people in general. He generated some bad publicity in the beginning by trying to make Arnold look bad by leaking news about him to the press. There were a lot of other stuff like Arnold changing his stance on a lot of things during the last year or so.

No, Phil Angelides lost because he is a liar and a completely incompetent idiot. Four years with that fool would have been like another Joe (aka Grey) Davis in power.

That said, I voted for the Governator last night because I prefer to have a balance of power. I definitely don't want the Democrats to have complete control of the state because when they do they just manage to fvck it up even worse than it already is. I also think that Arnold has some good ideas and is a decent governor and I agree with his politics. He's a very moderate Republican.

Actually Arnie hasnt done that bad a job. He has for the most part kept his promises ( what politician does fully??) and Angelides is a complete buffoon. the Dems are biding their time until '10 when the Repubs have no one to run.

His opponent Phil Angelides is a tard and even democrats don't even like him.

Arnold says he has his own agenda and doesn't follow the Bush agenda plus he's a big name person and CA folk love their celebrities.

Exactlt, Angelides is a sneaky, lying bastard. Moreso than other politicians.

IMO, the bolded piece says it all. I voted for Angelides, not because he was the better candidate, (which he wasn't) but as a vote AGAINST Ah-Nold because of his failed ballot initiatives last yeat that cost the state approx. $70 million, AND for his "work comp reform" that fvcked the Kahleeforneeyan worker so much.
Ah-Nold won, mostly because Angelides sucked so badly, (remember his alleged passing out Mexican flags at a rally a couple months ago?) I'm actually glad Angelides lost...even for a life-long Democrat like me, he was WAAAAAY to liberal...Let's hope the state legislature can keep Ah-Nold in check for the next 4 years...He's like a BIG spoiled
child...if the legislature doesn't give him what he wants, he pushes his ballot initiatives, raising millions of special interest $$$, and costing US millions to pay for them...

A year ago Arnold would have lost. He was taking a real polarizing and hard line approach towards the CA legistlature and trying to ram his propositions through. After they were not passed, he changed his tone and went back to the compromising consensus maker he said we would be when first elected. Angelinas never brought anything to the table.

I think his proposals were exactly what California needed quite honestly. They went down in flames because of the powerful unions that really run this state. He had no choice but to compromise at that point. At least he tried to change things.

And the other Democrat running against her in the Primary had no cash and basically no campaign. As for the general election, most people in NY would rather see the Democrat go to the senate than the Republican.
