California - No Ah-nold (movies) for you!

Apparently, because of the equal time clause, California broadcasters won't be able to air any Arnold movies or re-run episodes of Diff'rent Strokes starring Gary Coleman. Doing so would cause rivals in the gubernatorial race to demand equal air time....and since there are over 100 rivals...well, you get the idea.

With 100 rivals you'd think they'd need a separate channel in order to give them all equal air time...

Hmmm...maybe I'm onto something here. You could have a channel, call it the Home Politicking Network. Candidates could get on and promote themselves, and then people could call in and donate money and get buttons and stuff sent to them.

That's stupid. He already gets tons more airtime than the other candidates just from hollywood interviews, news, movie reviews, and the like... if they're going to be so anal about it, they sure are doing a half-assed job (pun intended).

I noticed all the T1 abd T2 dvd's are sold out at costco...there was a full display carton last weekend..now it's empty.

I think this whole thing with Ahnold running is quite interesting, really.

This is news to me about the equal-time clause. I knew it applied to people such as radio hosts, tv anchors, etc. In fact, there are two on-air radio personalities in Atlanta that people have said they would like to see get into politics (Neal Boortz and Clark Howard) but they have chosen not to because they would lose their shows if they do.

But, I didn't think it applied to existing movies and old TV shows....

Me too. I hope he wins actually. Anything that makes career politicians fear for their jobs is fine by me.

The rules only apply to local broadcasters like your local ABC or NBC channels, not to cables channels like TBS.
