anyways, tsunamis aren't very strong in the deep water, which allows them to conserve energy across large distances

My buddy just went out to newport last night to fish for these guys. He said the couple he got were huge, like 50 pounds. I heard on the news that the squid were coming closer to shore for food and got a little to close.

They usually hang around the western coast of South America. Pretty amazing that they were washed out at the shore.
Up here in Norcal, I saw a dead cow with all legs up in the air washed up at Ocean Beach in SF.

keep in mind these are Humbolt (sp?) squids, no the true "giant squids" that are much larger and rarely seen...

but the tsunami's traveled a great distance and the impact of the 9.2 ( i think or was it 9.0 ) earthquake was felt half a world away
